The 3-storey project has 62 seniors rental units, extensive common areas and amenities and one level of underground parking.
The project was designed to fit into the character of the neighbourhood. It makes reference to a neighbouring heritage-designated house, and other Arts & Crafts character houses in the area. The project has a steeply pitched roof with broad flat gables, prominent chimneys expressed on the exterior building face, rectangular bay windows, wrap-around porch, horizontal clap board siding and cultured stone on the exterior.
The three-storey building is configured in plan as a stepped T-shape oriented in a north-south direction with three residential wings. The project’s orientation and layout breaks down the overall building massing and creates three open space realms: a large landscaped south-facing private courtyard for residents, a public entrance courtyard area fronting onto 49th Avenue, and a smaller landscaped area along Granville Street.
The common areas are generous and well-proportioned and include a fireside lounge, dining room, games room, bistro cafe, library, multi-purpose room, TV lounge, beauty salon, and a private party room. The landscaped courtyard gardens provide quiet secure places for residents and visitors to sit or stroll.
