“The Jervis has an additional dimension of uncompromising simplicity, strength and clarity.”
– Tom Staniszkis, Principal Architect
“Design impacts everybody every day. Everything you touch, everything you look at.”
– Niels Bendtsen, Inform Interiors
The overall form for The Jervis is one that is familiar to the West End; a simple and elegant concrete 19 storey tower frame composition, together with a more complex and finely grained, pedestrian-scaled 3-storey podium expression. The tower component has 63 market housing, while the podium is comprised of 28 affordable, city owned social housing, with a small commercial retail shop on the corner.
On site amenities for the market housing include exceptionally large balconies and a roof terrace for each penthouse. In addition, a large amenity room off main entrance lobby connects to a common outdoor amenity area. Amentity areas for the social housing include balconies for most of the units and a large grade level landscaped outdoor amenity space to the southwest, complemented by a large indoor amenity space adjacent to it.
The intent of the landscape design is two-fold; provide residents with a highly livable environment and root the building in its surroundings with a high quality public realm treatment.
